Manual

LayerCue sends your presentation to the screen in layers. A slide over a background, captions and logos over that — each layer goes up and comes down by itself. Video or an image can sit underneath as the background, and changing the text leaves it running.

Worship services, events large and small, concerts, classrooms, a talk you are giving on your own — anywhere a screen faces people. The aim is to hold what the professional tools hold, at a price one person can pay without thinking twice. While it is in beta there is no charge at all.

If this is your first time, start with Install. If you want to know more about what it is first, the FAQ has it.

  • Install — from the download to putting the app in Applications
  • The main window — how the window is divided up
  • Your first show — one video onto the second screen, in five minutes
Playlists Adding items, setting the order, moving through them
Slides Video, images, text, YouTube
Output Sending to a second screen or a projector
Music Background music and ranges
Help When something is not working · common questions
  • Layers — video over a background, text over that, a logo over that. One background, one foreground, and five overlay slots
  • Text slides — outlines, per-character styling, padding and alignment. Sizes are a share of the screen, so what you build at 1080p looks the same at 4K
  • YouTube — paste the address and it plays. You can pick the captions and the dubbed audio track, and the stage never shows the progress bar, title, share or “More videos”
  • Music — set a range, loop it, and cross-fade between tracks
  • Choose the screen and the sound — which monitor to send to, which device to play through. Pick System default and it follows the Mac, so Bluetooth connected mid-show moves with it
  • English, Korean and Japanese
  • Text animation — lines arriving one after another
  • Fill & key output — sending alpha alongside the picture, so it can sit where a dedicated titler would
  • Several screens at once — a different monitor per playlist or folder
  • A Windows version

There is no charge during the beta. In exchange, tell us what you need and it becomes the next thing we build. Several features got here exactly that way.

At the bottom of the app there is an envelope button, “Tell us what’s wrong”. Press it, choose Question, Idea or Bug, and write. You need to be signed in to send.

If email is easier, write to [email protected].
